The Indus Valley Civilization (IVC), also known as the Harappan Civilization, represents one of the earliest urban civilizations in human history. Flourishing between approximately 2600 BCE and 1900 BCE, it extended across present-day India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. The civilization is renowned for its sophisticated urban planning, advanced drainage systems, extensive trade networks, and remarkable achievements in architecture and craftsmanship. This paper examines the origin, development, urban characteristics, economic activities, social organization, religious beliefs, and decline of the Indus Valley Civilization. Through historical and archaeological analysis, the study highlights the civilization's significant contributions to Ancient Indian history and its enduring cultural legacy.
