Jain philosophy holds a distinctive place in Indian philosophy because it places great emphasis on ethical principles and accords them the highest importance in human life. The moral principles prescribed by Jainism are essential not only for spiritual advancement but also play a significant role in worldly life. Jain ethics is founded on universal moral principles such as non-violence, truthfulness, non-stealing, celibacy or self-restraint, and non-possessiveness. The contemporary world is struggling with numerous crises. These crises are both specific in nature and global in scope. While violence, environmental degradation, consumerism, corruption, and moral decline have become global problems, individuals are also increasingly becoming victims of psychological distress and inner fragmentation. In such circumstances, the practical principles of Jain ethics prove to be highly relevant. This research paper attempts to analyse the fundamental principles of Jain ethics and their practical significance.
