Abstract

The study on natural radioactivity level in the building material splays a significant role in health physics. The present study has been carried out with the aim of estimating activity concentration of radionuclide’s in construction material10 different samples used for construction around Kolar Gold Fields, Kolar district using gamma ray spectrometry. Average values of activity concentration of 226Ra, 232Th and 40K of the present study are46.1±1.5, 75.1 ± 2.0 and 492.7 ± 4.9 Bq.kg-1, respectively. The average radium equivalent activity (Raeq), absorbed dose rate and annual effective dose were calculated.
